Pink Quilt

In my box of unfinished quilt tops waits this simple pinwheel. The plan is to hand quilt it myself someday, filling that large open white space with close quilting. (You know, perfect my stitch lengths with lots of practice.) I found a Celtic knotwork cross I'd love to use as the quilting template.

In the meantime, I thought I'd share it for Pink Saturday. It's pink in two ways. First, there's the pink in the printed fabric.

Secondly that pink fabric is from an early Quilt for the Cure collection. Although it doesn't flaunt its purpose with obvious pink ribbons (like some pink ribbon fabrics), Quilt for the Cure actually donates part of their proceeds to breast cancer research.

Sounds positively pink to me. Check out more pink with Beverly at How Sweet the Sound.

[Note; there's also a touch of pink in the flower seeds and seed envelopes you could win in my Giveaway. If you haven't entered yet, just scroll down to the next post to leave your comment and enter.]

  9. That quilt will be gorgeous when you hand quilt it. I have a collection of antique quilts and I am always amazed at the hand stitched detail. No such thing as long arm quilters back in the day.
    Happy Pink Saturday.

  13. Gorgeous!! You quilters are really something. I could never be precise enough to make one. My sister is a big time quilter. She and her group are always working on a quilt to auction off for cancer charity. Nice to meet you. ~ Lynn

  15. stamping on fabric is as easy as paper. just make sure you set your inks and that they're made for fabric. these inks are Palette and they're from a site named papertrey. good luck and show us what you do!

  21. Hi everyone,

For those of you that want to learn how to quilt, You can do it!
I'm slowly adding tutorials to the sidebar and I've already got some basics there. I'll be adding more as time goes on, simple, stunning, starter projects.

As for precision: Obviously no one noticed the dozens of mistakes I always make -- ergo, no one would notice if you made mistakes too.

I've made all the quilts shown on my blog, including the one in the header. That's actually just a block from an almost finished one -it's not fully assembled and quilted yet.

Oh, and a faster way to get finished with a quilt? Some quilts can be pieced in a day (8-10hrs) and then you don't have to quilt it yourself -- you can send it out to be hand or machine quilted by someone else. Sounds like cheating doesn't it? I do it sometimes anyway. Actually, you don't even have to quilt it at all you can "tuft" it. hmmmm... I think I should do a post about that.

I will stop by for a visit again. Have a great weekend.
